2012 Kigurumi Chronicle¶
The 2013-2025 volumes are complete. Following the rule that a completed year is not rebuilt and only one earlier year is prepared per run, this volume covers 2012 only. The accessible primary record is concentrated in Tokyo Game Show 2012's organizer archive; specialist gatherings without reliable dates, places, and outcomes are not reconstructed from later evidence.
1. Evidence boundary¶
Tokyo Game Show 2012's official overview lists September 20-21 as business days and September 22-23 as public days at Makuhari Messe. This volume also uses the organizer's archived Japanese and English rules for cosplayers to verify the published conditions for costumes, changing, cloakroom use, movement, photography, and image use.12
Tokyo Game Show is a general game exhibition, not an animegao kigurumi event. The Japanese rules directly mention “large kigurumi,” translated by the organizer as “large size full-body suits,” but they identify no animegao participant, specialist gathering, or attendance count. This volume records how a public exhibition governed large kigurumi and adjacent cosplay infrastructure; it does not turn the existence of a rule into evidence of attendance.
2. Verifiable nodes¶
September 22-23: large kigurumi entered the public costume boundary¶
The public-day rules place large kigurumi, papier-mache costumes, and floor-dragging skirts or mantles in the category of costumes that inconvenience others. The Japanese text adds that long skirts and mantles may be opened for photography but must be folded while moving.2
This does not prove animegao appeared at the venue, nor does it make every form of kigurumi the same size risk. The narrower finding is that by 2012 the organizer was already using the kigurumi category to manage the effect of large full-body costumes on public circulation.
September 22-23: Hall 7 changing, cloakroom, and repair support formed one workflow¶
The designated changing room was on the south side of Hall 7. Its JPY 500 fee included cloakroom use. Changing elsewhere, including restrooms, was prohibited, as were eating, resting, and photography in the changing room; suspicious objects or hidden cameras were to be reported immediately. Costumes were checked at the exit, non-compliant props could be held, participants had to return by 16:00, and arrival or departure in costume was prohibited.2
The room was scheduled to open early from the first train at Kaihin-Makuhari Station until 8:00, and sewing kits were available from staff. The archived page proves that the organizer published these services and conditions. It is not a post-event report and does not establish service usage or animegao participation.
September 22-23: designated photo areas and publication boundaries were published together¶
Photography was limited to part of Yasuragi Mall between Halls 3 and 4 and an outdoor cosplay area on the south, ocean-facing side of the venue. Photographers had to obtain the subject's permission and avoid including unrelated people. Video, commercial photography, and submitting or selling venue photos to publications were prohibited; posting to a personal website required the relevant person's consent.2
The 2013 organizer rules explicitly say that the changing room had moved from “last year's Hall 7” to Hall 9 and that Yasuragi Mall, used in earlier years, was no longer a cosplay photo area.3 The unique record retained here is therefore the pre-move baseline for space, fees, and image use. Shared consent rules are not expanded a second time.

The existing chronicle, daily-life/discussion, reference/education, and etiquette/safety structure is sufficient. One general-exhibition rule page does not justify a separate event, craft, or academic section.

5. Annual conclusion¶
The stable 2012 record is not a list of specialist animegao events. It is Tokyo Game Show's pre-move public participation baseline: large kigurumi were included in circulation rules; Hall 7 South provided paid changing and cloakroom use, early access, and repair support; photography was confined to designated areas; and video, commercial photography, publication use, and personal-site posting had distinct limits. The 2013 organizer page's statements about the move from Hall 7 and withdrawal of the earlier photo area make this baseline cross-checkable. Individual participants, specialist gatherings, facility usage, and event outcomes remain unknown.
